Album Lyrics: Everything

Everything

The world has everything for what all of us need

But each outcome is different depending to what each agreed

Everyone who is building a list to live by their ideals

Everyone who won’t take a chance and ends up spinning wheels

Everyone who is trapped in the horrors outside the law

Everyone who can wonder about the universe in awe

Every omnipotent being that helps to guide our way

Every false prophet speaking attempting to lead us astray

Every disease that waits for a cure

Every risk that is taken unsure

Every resource we squander and waste

Every experience, every dream chased

Every wish to grant every hope

Everyone who’s at the end of their rope

Everything old and everything new

Everything’s here, so what will you do?

Every time we have taken a shot at the goal

Every time that we missed and sank into a hole

Everyone who lets down those they were meant to serve

Every one of us will get what we deserve

Every perfection, every flaw

Every emotion that leaves us raw

Everything broken in pieces and sticks

Everything put back together and fixed

Every yearning to become whole

Every chance to pray for your soul

Every time that you choose to be kind

Everything’s here, so what will you find?

Every pathway, every track

Every journey that brings us back

Everything hopeful, everything lost

Everything worth it no matter the cost

Every choice to do what is right

Every chance to tell loved ones goodnight

Every decision with nothing to lose

Everything’s here, so what will you choose?

Apogee

He walks out into the sunrise heading for the shed

He starts up the tractor one more time to get ahead

Forced to trust in God for his sunshine and his rain

The cycle keeps repeating as if he was insane

He has nothing in control but what else can he say

You get nothing if you plant a sterile field of clay

His foreclosure’s coming and it’s plain for all to see

He can’t make it better now that he’s at his apogee

They see ends of rainbows from their 57th floor

Stocks and bonds and finance keep them adding to their store

Even when there’s setbacks there is always one more deal

But there’s no escaping from this endless spinning wheel

When it’s good, take credit, when it’s bad pass blame

Things are never good enough when the outcome stays the same

What is it that makes them trust their own reality?

There’s only one way to go when they’ve reached their apogee

She went out to Hollywood to find her silver screen

She took any role she could to make sure she was seen

She was not a superstar but she worked it for awhile

But soon she was relegated to the has-been pile

Things had seemed so promising, fame was in her reach

But how to gracefully fall from grace was something they don’t teach

No one told her that her star was never going to be

As high as it once was when she was at her apogee

Ancestors and Offspring

Many generations have come and gone

Along the timeline’s never-ending scale

They tried to leave their mark for those yet to come

But it wasn’t always clear that they’d prevail

They lived their lives the best they could as they dealt with

All the challenges they had to face

Through their words and deeds it is clear that

All they wanted was to leave the world a better place

Now it’s time for all our children

To take over the world that we know

But it seems each generation has to re-learn

The lessons that were learned long ago

War and hunger, inequality as well as hatred

Are obstacles that act like shifting sands

We have to trust that we’ve given to our offspring

All the tools to leave the world in better hands

Each of my ancestors had hopes and dream to pass along

To all the generations down the line

And to my offspring I hope to pass along my hopes and dreams

With the changes that are mine

Rise and Fall

The young man left his home to find his way in life

But he made mistakes, they cut him like a knife

He did anything he could to get what he could get

But the risk of failure was a fifty-fifty bet

Life felt so unfair even when he tried his best

Reaching equilibrium was absent from his quest

Things were never good enough no matter what he’d do

The good life’s only good for the chosen few

Desperate isolation is its own kind of hell

He could not think clearly when beat down by the swell

Was anybody there to hear his mayday call

He had to find a way to stay afloat

While he was riding out the rise and fall

He had revelations that he had to make a shift

He couldn’t keep the ruse up with his life adrift

It took lots of courage to admit that he was wrong

He had to change his viewpoint just to move along

Time was passing by and so he did the math

To achieve success he took a different path

He chose to ignore the voices down the hall

Instead he would choose to make a difference

And change the outcome of his rise and fall

He is finally content, his feet firm on the ground

Things got even better ever since she came around

He could not be selfish now that she was there

Everything is richer when you’re with someone to share

She’s lying next to him sleeping peacefully

His past life’s atonement showed him what his life could be

Forces from above have answered to each other’s call

So he listens to the steady rhythm of her breathing

As he sees her body rise and fall

You Were So Close

You have tried your hardest to keep up with the race

But you have no Midas touch so it all falls on its face

You jump into the pool because you think you can swim

But you don’t seem to have a plan, you live life on a whim

You were so close but now you’re so far

You can’t keep from sinking just by wishing on a star

You think you discovered the key to your design

But you threw out logic and trusted everything you read online

When you found a disconnect you simply picked the one you like

Now it seems you’re falling off more than staying on the bike

You were so close but now you’re so far

You’ve done all that pedaling without a handlebar

Why do you keep doing this, tell me what’s your drive

Sometimes it seems to me that you’re barely able to survive

You have the means to fix this but you keep it deep inside

You have to try something new and not repeat the things you’ve tried

You were so close but now you’re so far

You have to change directions to find the person who you are

Never Mind

The sun is rising and I’m up on my feet

Pour the coffee, fix some eggs and settle in my seat

Flipping through the want ads to see what grabs my heart

Looking for success and today’s the day to start

This ain’t the time to be lazy

I’m looking for a purpose, not a grind

But if you think that I am crazy

All I have to say is never mind

I am walking out the door so I can seize the day

I am thinking positive, there’s nothing in my way

I will find the reason to break out of this curse

I am moving forward, not ever in reverse

I know happiness can be fleeting

But I choose not to be resigned

Sometimes you have to risk the beating

And if you don’t then never mind

I discovered my reflection

I found a soulmate who is kind

I have to keep the right connection

I don’t want to tell you never mind

The sun is getting low, the day is almost done

I’ll be sleeping well ‘cause I took care of number one

I can see my destiny, I’ll keep the stars aligned

As to all the rest of it, well, never mind

Do It All (One More Time)

Way back when we started they didn’t think we’d see the day

That we’d find the answers to the prayers that we’d pray

Thunder has its rain but rainbows have the sun

Clarity’s like clearing mist when you see that you have found the one

Happiness just happened, loneliness a distant view

It seems it was effortless to figure out I’d stay with you

Life together’s easy, we didn’t have to spend a dime

And all I know is I would do it all one more time

Destiny comes knocking but are you ready to receive

Be content with what’s given you, otherwise it might leave

Good things are good to have but let me give you some advice

The pie of life goes farther if you choose to share the slice

Where would you like to go, it doesn’t matter what you choose

I am up for anything, I’m putting on my traveling shoes

Life is an adventure, I’m the beer and you’re the lime

I don’t have to tell you I would do it all one more time

What you see is what you get, there is nothing in disguise

We can’t stop this feeling, we see it in each other’s eyes

So we will continue, every day is so sublime

And there’s no doubt that I would do it all one more time

Pleiades

The mysteries of the universe

Are captured in the stars we see

There are many myths and legends

To tell us who we are and how to be

Seven is the number of completeness

It is found in many tales of old

But there is one special story

Where seven is the reason it is told

Daughters of Atlas and Pleione

On Mount Kyllini they were sown

Each of the seven has her story

But it’s as the seven that they’re known

They guided ancients in the seasons

When to plant and when to sail

A multi-culture constellation

Is where the Seven Sisters now prevail

They were pursued by Orion

So Zeus made them into doves to fly

The doves escaped into the heavens

To become the Seven Sisters in the sky

Each life weaves a trail before us

Both happiness and sadness testify

Perhaps we all might find a lesson

From the Seven Sisters in the sky

Wingman

I am just an ordinary man

Living out each ordinary day

I have done many things in this world

Now home is where I choose to stay

I can’t imagine what could have been

With no wingman life was just a guess

But with you I know I am grounded

And life’s a chance for happiness

I was going through the motions

Piloting my life without a clue

How could we have known when fate intervened

That we’d end up as me and you

I know what you’ll say before you say it

It’s like we read each other’s minds

I think that having this connection in the world

Is a very rare thing to find

Where each one leads the other follows

Life is a journey that we share

We’re thankful for the things God has given us

Especially to have each other there

With you things are so much better

The times I doubt myself are few

I can count on you as my wingman

What would I do without you?

I have become a better person

It helps me to have you by my side

And when difficulties find us

Together we take them in stride

I don’t know what’s in our future

All I know is what the truth will be

You are an extraordinary wingman

We’ll take on everything as you and me
